For example, in the short story, Margot was known as a shy kid that had no friends. In the short story and the film, Margot believed the sun was coming out even though no one else did. Another similarity is that Margot lived on Earth and that she saw it and remembered the sun, but no one believed that she remembered it. In the short story and the film, Margot knows a bully named William and he is so mean to Margot in both the film and the story.

For example, in the short story, Margot was known as a shy kid that had no friends, but in the film Margot was talkative and had a couple of friends. Also in the short story the sun comes out every 7 years, but in the film the sun comes out every 9 years. This is ironic as the children were 9 years old. This means in the film that Margot would have been a newborn when the sun came out, and she couldn’t have possibly remembered that experience.
Another difference between the short story and the film is that in the film Margot can see the sun through the window and in the book she can’t see the sun at all as she is locked in a closet. Because the kids in her classroom doubted that the sun was really going to come out, they made a “joke” and put Margot in the closet. As Margot was in the closet, the kids in the classroom forgot about her, and the rain started to clear up and the weather started to become clear and light. As time went by, the rain started to fall again and the sun went back behind the the thick cotton candy clouds. Then the kids remembered,
