After reading “Worlds of Color” by W.E.B Dubois and “Some Questions on Development by Rodney Walter I noticed how their views on colonialism are similar. Colonialism is acquiring full or partial political control over another country occupying with settlers and exploiting it economically. In “Worlds of Color”, Dubois says in the beginning that “With nearly every great European empire walks its dark colonial shadow”. Dubois was insinuating that the only reason Europe is the superpower that it is, is because it colonized majority of Africa and exploited their resources. In the article by Walter Rodney, he also talked about Europe taking over parts of Africa and exploiting their resources.

Walter Rodney did the same thing in his article, he just broke it down in two parts the developed and the underdeveloped. Walters goes on to say that a common reason why a country is usually undeveloped is because of exploitation by another country. He even says that all the countries in the world that are underdeveloped are being exploited by another country. The product of that is capitalism, where a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit rather than by the state. Another product of exploitation is imperialism, when a country increases its power gaining control over other areas of the
