It first emerged in Italy right after World War I of 1914-1919. In 1919, the Italian Benito Mussolini established the “Milan Fascio” and transformed it into the Fascist Party in 1921. On October 28-29, 1922, Mussolini attempted to seize the absolute power from the Italian King and became the new Prime Minister of Italy by launching the “March on Rome” with 200,000 Fascists wearing black shirts. Influenced and aspirated by Italian Fascism, Adolf Hitler set up Nazi Germany, in which Nazism is an ideology durably related to Fascism.
Due to the aggressive foreign expansion adopted by Fascist Italy and Nazi Germany, Fascism was spread to and the fascist states were fostered in the politically chaotic countries in Southern, Central, Eastern Europe, such as Falange in Spain, Sanation in Poland and Arrow Cross Party in Hungary. The impact of World War I and the post-war circumstances contributed to the rise of fascist states in Europe, which are discussed as follow.
