Before taking the first step, you must first meet the minimum requirements for the job listing. An applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least two (2) years of experience in security, law enforcement, corrections, the military, loss prevention, emergency medical services, or direct care social services. A Bachelor degree from an accredited educational institution may substitute for required work experience. If the above requirements are meet the first step is registering and completing the entrance examination. The exam is completed by hundreds of candidates at the Boston Convention Center. The test is given in two parts that are one hour long each. The test covers court room conduct, building security and evacuation, Lock-up and inmate procedures and chain of command to name a few.
