Cranial sutures are joints, that makes a strong, fibrous tissue to hold the bones together. The baby’s skull in fronts is the sutures intersect in the large soft spot on the top of the baby’s head. At the age of two, the sutures remain flexible, giving your baby’s brain time to grow until the bones fuses. The signs of Craniosynostosis is noticed at birth, but they will become more apparent during the first few months of the baby’s life. This causes by a misshapen skull, depending on the shape the sutures are affected and an abnormal feeling or fontanel disappearing on the baby’s skull. The surgical procedure is performed during the first year of life. The surgery depends on which the sutures are closed and to tell if the baby has genetic syndromes causes Craniosynostosis. When a baby has a very mild Craniosynostosis it might not need surgery. As the baby grows older and grows hair, the shape of the skull will become less noticeable. Special medical helmets can be used to help mold the baby’s skull to have a regular shape. Baby born with Craniosynostosis are different, and the condition can be mild to severe, or healthy. Some babies with Craniosynostosis can develop delays and intellectual disabilities because this keeps the baby’s brain from growing and working normally. Babies with Craniosynostosis will need to see a healthcare provider, to make sure that the brain and skull are developing
