During my juvenile years, I was arrested for driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol, which occurred during my junior year in high school in 2008. I plead no contest to this misdemeanor and I was subsequently enrolled into the DUI Diversion Program. For 12 months, which included a significant majority of my freshmen year at Loyola Marymount University: I completed monthly drug tests, a traffic instructional course, community service hours, and attended monthly meetings with a juvenile counselor and group. After completion of the program, my records were sealed, I was adjudicated, and I was not convicted of the misdemeanor offense; this is why I marked "No" on the AMCAS application. Since then, my record has been spotless and this instance…

Law Enforcement Interview Police officers are seen under the radar in everyday life. By under the radar I mean, we notice them driving around town, or when we are slamming on our brakes passing them going twenty miles over the speed limit on the interstate, or when we all pretend to be perfect drivers when we notice them trailing us from our rear view mirrors. What we don’t notice is who the police officer that’s giving us a ticket is, or what their ranking is or how well trained or educated they are. Police officers are easily disliked by the public because of their jobs of handing out tickets, or making necessary arrests but all they’re trying to do is keep the community safe.…

In this essay I will reflect on the few assumptions and understandings I had about crime and see how they have changed. Upon arriving at De Montfort University to study Criminology and Criminal Justice, I had average knowledge about crime and punishment i.e. insight into biological and psychological perspectives of crime having studied A-level Law and Psychology beforehand. However I did expect to delve so deep into the history and other aspects of Criminology during this first semester. During A-level Law I have read many case studies of murder, manslaughter, GBH, rape etc. I found the main reasons behind committing these crimes were usually motives for revenge, loss of control, hate, rage, and biological inheritance of 'criminal genes ' such as Monoamine oxidase A which makes individuals more prone to exert violence.…
