Several times throughout the novel, Curley’s wife mentions how lonely she is. When someone is stuck on a ranch with men who give them no attention or a time of day, the only thing going through one's mind is why they ignore and rarely talk to them (for instance Curley’s wife). A true relationship is someone who accepts the past actions, supports the present, and encourages the future. Everyone wants to feel cared for and worthy of other people's time. This novel proves that it is difficult to control someone’s loyalty. Many believe that before Curly’s wife dies, she understood that she does not need to chase after people, she can be herself, do her own thing, and work hard on finding real friends. Although Curley’s wife never found someone who was always there for her, she could’ve if she was herself and realized that the right people who belong in one’s life will come and stay for
