Daisy's Role In The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is a book of metaphors and twist and turns. It is in the point of view of Nick Carraway. He is connected to several characters in the story such as Tom, Gatsby, Daisy and Jordan. Gatsby is old friends and lovers with Daisy, but she is married to Tom. Everyone wants to live the American dream, and that means having money and people around you. They will do anything to get it even if it means committing crimes and hurting people along the way. Each character is connected in different ways through family or through having a past with each other. Daisy and other women play a big part in this story. They do not care for feelings, they want power. The assessment of women according to Daisy is that they have too keep up their standards. Daisy was born into a wealthy family and has kept her standards and how she portrays herself by the books. The reason she sees women as an essential part of how you make it in this American Dream is because she herself is like this as well. She knows she needs to be wealthy and pretty and have a good status among the people to make it. Jordan is in a relationship with Nick and she was also born into a wealthy family and lifestyle. During that time period Daisy married Tom but Gatsby came back and wanted her back. He had used Nick to achieve this because Nick was cousins with Daisy and Gatsby uses this to his advantage. He tells Nick about the history and how he throws big parties every Saturday at his house. They were neighbors so he had invited Nick and Daisy to one of these extravagant parties. Now that Nick knows of the history between the two so he finds a way to get them together again. He reunites them and his plan to get them together had actually worked. Nick was helping this even though he knew the relationship with Tom and Daisy. He only helped because he knew of the husbands affairs with Myrtle. Gatsby had tricked and fooled Daisy by using the parties. He knew that he needed to look wealthy and worthy to be with Daisy so he got the idea to throw parties. He did not have the money to throw them so he commited crimes and stole to get money. He had lied about having all the money and the lie ended up working. Later on Gatsby will be paying the ultimate price for these lies. Later on Tom had found out about what was going on between Daisy and Gatsby because of the way he looked at her.
