Imagine waking up every day and having to pretend to be someone you’re not. Well, that’s how thousands of people feel every day who are transgender. Being transgender means a person identifies as a different gender that they were given at birth. In recent years, more and more celebrity transgender advocates have shown their voice for equality for transgender people such as Laverne Cox, Janet Mock, and Ines Rau. Caitlyn Jenner is a former Olympian and an advocate for transgender people.…
The dictionary says that LBTQ+ is “relating to lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgenders, and queers (and/or those questioning their gender identity or sexual orientation)” (lgbtq. Dictionary.com. Dictionary.com Unabridged. Random House, 17).…
It is 2016, and in today’s world, gender is but a place on your lower body. People can identify as the opposite gender than they were born with, or identify as both genders, and even identify as no gender at all. It has become a personal issue that is not yet fully accepted into society. If someone finds out you are a transgender, they have the right to refuse service to you or kick you out, no questions asked. Transgender people are treated differently because of how they identify themselves.…
It's been very hard for the LGBTQ youth to come out in the past few decades as many fear being rejected by their families and loved ones, but the ones who do have the courage to come out end up being homeless, that is not the case for every person that comes out, but a recent study shows that 40 percent of youth homelessness cases are caused by teen's coming out to their families. What does the Government do about this? What can we as individuals do about this issue? Half of the LGBTQ experience a negative reaction when they come out to their families, anyone who is coming out of the closet is vulnerable to rejection and is at a higher risk of victimization.…

INTRODUCTION LGBT people are a part of every community. The LGBT community in itself is diverse, comprising of people of all ages from different racial, ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds, from all over the world. What LGBT means is it’s the “Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) rights in the United States” (Wikipedeia). Basically what that means is that people can marry the same gender in any state of the U.S and no one can tell them no. It’s really a beautiful thing that…
Asexual is a word that describes how someone feels. Asexual means that a person has no sexual feelings or association. A asexual person who doesn’t want to have sex or has ever had sex. I have met some asexual people, the told me they were asexual but I never knew what asexuality was. I think being asexual is good because it’s a kind of way of not getting in trouble.…
Gender nonconforming, gender identity and gender binary are topics seldom used in conversation involving children. In one discussion when people were asked to define the word gender many of them said it meant someone was male or female. The true meaning of the word gender translates to people and their behavior and characteristics, whether masculine or feminine. Equally important when the prefix trans is added to gender and the word transgender is formed many people immediately think it is homosexual or transsexual in nature. The truth is transgender people are not gay nor do choose to have the characteristics of someone of the opposite sex.…
When I first realized I was gay, it did not seem like a big difference. Some exciting stuff happened, like gay marriage becoming legal and meeting a group of friends who were also part of the lgbtq community. As time went on I trended towards music, art, literature, almost anything as long as I felt accepted or represented. I became more political as it became clear that more people than I could have imagined would like to take away my basic rights or the rights of those in my community. I could not understand how others were not keeping up in the realm of politics, why they were not as loud as me when it came to the same issues.…
But why? Before moving forward, what does it mean to be transgender? Transgender is an umbrella term used to describe a human being who lives differently from the gender presentation and roles that he/ she was assigned to according to society. This is not to be confused with transsexual!…

Many people wouldn’t wanna see gay people holding hands out in public and kissing many people don’t want to see lesbians kissing out in public they think it’s wrong and nasty for others to see this. Gays are discriminated against, beaten and even murdered by even those of the same sexual preferences. People comment negative things to gays calling them queers and making fun of them.…
The dominance of heteronormativity facilitates protection for those whom assimilate into its culture of binary masculinity and femininity; yet, it also necessitates a disruption of such a status quo, seen in the development of queer theory -- queer embodying identities incompatible with heterosexuality, such as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender; and, theory critiquing connections…
How do you personally define human sexuality? If I am being completely honest, my sexuality is something I am only now coming to terms with. I have always known that I found both men and women attractive. I can remember wanting to kiss my female friends and wondering what it would be like to hold them the same way I wondered what it would be like to be touched my guy friends.…
Since the beginning of time, people have fought over their different opinions. With different opinions, there are bound to be a lot of arguments. Some of the arguments can be big or small, and other arguments people do not like to speak of. One of the most confidential is the right for LGBT communities right to be able to get married. This is an ongoing problem that needs to be settled one way or another.…
