Descriptive Essay
On February 10, 2017 Senior High School hosted a pink out basketball game. As I have mentioned before my mom was diagnosed with cancer in the middle of November. She had to go to the hospital a lot so our family was struggling financially. For a couple months people all around Dubuque were raising money for the pink out game. The money that was raised would go to my mom. My mom and I had no clue that they were raising money and when we found out we both started crying. We both felt to thankful. All the money that got raised was going to go to us at the pink out game which I played in. It was men's and women's double header basketball game.
Earlier that day, people wore the pink out shirts that they bought. It was a really good day for me, I kept feeling so thankful and honored to go to Senior High School. People were stopping me in the halls that day telling me, "they were so sorry to hear about my mom". Words can't describe the feelings I was having. This day was really important to me not only because my mom was being honored but

When I went out there, there was so many people. I was in shock because I couldn’t believe how many people were there. Everyone had there pink shirt on and supported. When the warm- up time was almost over I started to get more and more nervous, I was shaking. When the warm-up was over, we all huddled in and started to get ready to meet the starting line- ups for both teams. I was starting for Senior. When the announcers announced my name I ran out and shook the over girls hand, I was shaking the whole time. After they announced the starting line-ups, we walked out to the middle of the floor to sing the National Anthem. Finally it was game time. We started off very slow and had a lot of quick turnovers. We were down most of the game and lost by a lot. It was very hard for me to play I was extremely emotional to see my mom sitting in the

The last inning, we started to fall apart, but we never gave up. No matter what happened we were going to have fun because it was our last time with the amazing coach we had and the last time we would see each other till high school. As I get off the bus, and stretch my legs after what seemed like a very long bus ride, I noticed a certain smell in the air. I have been here before, and each time the visits have been very uncomfortable. I love nothing more than to step on the ball field, and smell the fresh cut grass, and my kangaroo skin catchers glove. This ball field was different, for many different reasons. Playing baseball against Mountain Valley was always fun, because we always won.…

Hockey in the desert Ice hockey is a sport almost unheard of in the city of Tucson, Arizona. There is the local college team, the Wildcats, but aside from that you have to drive through the middle of a scorching desert to get to the nearest city with an ice rink. And then of course there is me. Hockey is a big hobby of mine, and sadly I was unfortunate enough to grow up in the middle of a desert where hockey is not a big part of the culture. But that wasn’t going to stop me.…

I live day to day, going through the works: wake up at the ungodly hour of six A.M., make it through my classes, two hours of volleyball, finally go home, repeat. But, in between all of the rushing, the yelling, the stress of high school, is when I get to relax. It’s when I get to forget about school, or as I call it “college auditions” and when I can just have a nice time without having to weigh the pros and cons of every thing I do. Every day, after the last bell rings, I navigate through the throngs of intimidating upperclassmen. It’s like The Hunger Games, stay calm, keep your head down, and try not to piss anyone off.…

So we prayed and the game started and we played nervously. My captain, Melissa dribbled down the court, looked to pass, and took the shot but missed it. Michelle also missed her fast-break lay up, and I missed my free throw. At the end of Quarter 2, it was like playing football because the scoreboard only shows 2 for Ipeka Tomang (my school) and 3 for Yadika. That indicates how much we are struggling the whole quarter never really score but a constant battle between getting and loosing the ball.…
