Drivers and pedestrians assume black smoke, “unburned fuel” that exits the exhaust of a diesel powered vehicle and they believe it’s the worst thing ever because it is visible. Diesel fuel has a high amount of sulfur …show more content…
In this process the fuel burns more but this does harm to the engine overtime. While all of this is going on the recirculation of the unburnt fuel (soot) that is traveling through the engine is doing nothing but clogging up everything, because soot doesn't clean itself out does nothing but build up thicker and thicker over time. These compilations all combined over a period of time will cause serious damage to the diesel engine that these are mounted on or located on. A fix for these bad inventions to help improve the environment is deleting them off of the engine. First you start by removing the EGR followed by installing blocking plates, next a certified technician reprograms the ECM (Electronic Control Module) to adjust and run with the changes made to the engine. Next is deleting the DPF, all that has to be done for this is taking off the old exhaust with all of the mufflers and catalytic converters and installing an exhaust that has nothing but an aftermarket muffler or one has nothing which is called a straight pipe. After completing all of these tasks to the engine it could range anywhere from $1,000 - $5,000 varying on the year of the vehicle, but it is a great investment because it …show more content…
After deleting these parts off of the diesel engine, the driver will have a guaranteed notice of better fuel mileage, performance and longevity of the diesel engine than compared to if the EGR and DPF was still placed from factory. This process is definitely worth the effort to delete and have on a vehicle because of the better performances and power difference.
EPA is not being very kindly about those deleting these diesel engine because it is going against the laws and avoiding the emissions on trying to improve the environment by reducing smog and NOx (Nitrogen Oxide) gases in the atmosphere with the DPF filter. NOx gases are created by a diesel engine and the gas supposedly harms the environment too much for the EPA standards so this is an example of one of many reasons why the laws are the way they are on a diesel
