Yes, it is critical to recognize, document, and integrate the social-cultural, economic, and normative values of the community. It is important to take all those in mind because every community consist of a different population with different needs and in order to meet those needs we need to document or take into consideration such factors. To this day, studies of social, economic, and cultural factors are important for understanding community health. A model that takes into consideration some of the factors is Diffusion of Innovation. Diffusion of Innovation model seeks to explain how innovations are taken up in a population (Robinson, 2009). According to Shah, Kaselitz, and Heisler some barriers to diabetes management is poor access to care because of culturally tailored approaches. For this specific reason is why we need to take important factors such as race and economy when applying theories into a community. Another example that supports my statement is a partnership called Healthy Communties. Healthy Communities is a partnership that works with state and local officials, families, and community organizations to guarantee access to healthcare to all families regardless of their immigration status and economic status (Partnership for Community Action, n.d.).
