On February 8, 1887, Congress passed the Dawes Act as a solution to the "Indian Problem." Congress saw this conflict similar to Americans Richard H. Pratt and Carl Schurz, who noticed the Westward Expansion campaign had become an invasion for Native Americans. Mr. Pratt had seen the harsh conditions of Native reservations himself and concluded they were in desperate need of education. Together with other Indian reformers, Pratt pushed Congress to feed Great Plains Native Americans into American Indian schools, where they would "kill the Indian, save the man.…

Winthrop was the leader of the Puritan exodus in 1630 when nine hundred migrants fled to America. The Puritans visualized a reformed Christian society with “authority in magistrates, liberty in people, purity in the church”. Explain marriage under the eighteenth-century English common law:…

Life in 1744 was much different than life in 2014. Aside from the lack of today’s modern conveniences, the roles of women were much different. I doubt if many of today’s women would stand for things to return to the way of life in 1744. The women in 1744 fell under one of two categories. Authors Cantor and Levin make an impressive case for the proposed Pennsylvania Uniform Collaborative Law Act, that would make Pennsylvania one of the few states (four, plus Washington DC), that have created a law supporting what is known as an alternative view of divorce. The norms of divorce, as is known in American culture, is always messy, divisive, and highly emotional. The proposal for “collaborative divorce” would make children, and co-parenting, a vital component of the dissolution of a marriage. In essence this law would assist not just in the dividing of property and assets but would provide for the needs of children in addition to working to preserve respect and healthy communication between the divorcing parties.…
