Drunk Driving as also known as DUI or DWI, which has been a major problem in the US and around the world. These are the acronyms for the phrase “driving under the influence” and “driving while intoxicated”. DUI and DWI is one of the biggest reasons for the many unwanted deaths around the world.

In the world today, 40% of all automobile accident happens because of DUI due to alcohol. Throughout the year, there have been more than 100 million deaths around the world each year because of DUI. And each year, there are approximately 16,000 people that are killed in related crashes in America. Drunk drinking counts one third of all fatal crashes in the United States. The problem is that a lot of time people get carried away and just don’t realize/notice the amounts of alcohol they have taken and not realize how alcohol-impaired they really are in. One may feel they are still able to drive, but in fact, they are not. And many drinks and drive because of peer pressure as one want to act cool and don’t want to lose face in front of their friends. If you are planning to drink in any occasions please always have a drive home plan like a designated driver. Have a plan on how you get back home safely. Always think twice and think about the risks and consequences that you are taking. Everyone really needs to take drunk driving seriously as one can get themselves in serious trouble with the law and can even lead to crime like manslaughter. When you get in the vehicle and turn it on, you are not just putting yourself in danger, but you are also putting people in your vehicle in danger as well as all the others that are on the road. The deaths from drunk driving not only affect the victim in the accident, but also affect their family and friends. No one should take this lightly as the next victim could be you, your family member or someone you know and love. Therefore, the next time you are out drinking, please think twice before making the choice and choose wisely. If not, and that could the last time you will be drinking.
