According to Getting Away With Murder: The True Story of the Emmett Till Case, “News of the murder and the trial that followed it outraged Black and sympathetic white Americans across the nation, and reaction to the famous murder case played an important role as a catalyst for the civil rights movement.” Emmett Till’s story was so monumental to history that it is still widely known today. His murder, and the other events that followed it, such as Rosa Parks’ story, helped start the civil rights movement. Till had no idea that his death would influence millions of people to stand up against Southern segregation. He had a huge impact on history. Another example of someone who affected history is Jackie Robinson. Jackie Robinson went down in history for being one of the first African Americans to play in Major League Baseball. According to a Holt McDougal Literature, “Robinson signed up in a history-making huddle with Hector Racine and Lieut.” (847) Beyonce Knowles-Carter said, “When I leave this world, I’ll leave no regrets.
