It is said that every student has a college that specifically fits them and I see the Weinberg school of Arts and Science to be that college for me. I see this notion as an enzyme-substrate complex where I see myself as the substrate, which is the compound that forms the products, and the university as the enzyme that helps students in achieving their goals. The unique part of this complex is that only a particular enzyme can bind to a specific substrate. And I feel the same way with the university.

The reason I consider this is because of Northwestern’s unique aspect of offering opportunities to all its students on to learn, research, and invent. And the support and encouragement lent to students in pursuing their passion makes me feel that

Transformation is a concept overlooked by many but it is extremely necessary to the development of society and individuality. Freire uses this idea throughout his article to explain the extreme need for students to learn in a way that empowers them to transform the world, not just simply live in it. There are problems faced in both the world as a whole, and UConn specifically, that cannot be addressed without individuals who are willing to bring about change. The model of the new recreation center which is located in the Student Union is a prime example of people trying to better the UConn community. Freire’s article, entitled “The Banking Concept of Education”, sheds light on artifacts on campus that relate to the transformation of UConn…

An enzyme is a macromolecule that acts as a catalyst in which it speeds up reactions by lowering activation energy (Campbell 151,152). Activation energy is the energy that is required for a reaction to take place (Campbell 152). In the reactions there are substrates which are reactants that enzymes act on (Campbell 153). Enzymes bind to the substrates then creating an enzyme-substrate complex, and while the two are joined together the catalytic action of the enzyme changes the substrate to the product of the reaction (Campbell 153). An Enzymes environment effects its behavior greatly, all enzymes have an optimal temperature were reaction is greatest which is approximately 35-40 ˚C (Campbell 155).…
