Concerns about veterans’ health
Veterans potentially have psychological damages that are barely noticed by people in general, but it is indeed making those service people suffer. According to USDVA(United States Department of Veterans Affair), several factors affect veterans while they are serving, seriously from physically to mentally, terminologically called “stressors”, which Eli Saslow (2011) describes in how Doug’s wife Krissy, after reading the article about PTSD, is worried about her husband would be changed even though her sister-in-law claimed that his brother Dough’ is not some psychotic stranger from steroids’. That is, he suddenly forgot about what to feed the saltwater fish, which he had spent years taking care of. “He felt like a stranger in his own house, unable to remember where anything was, and by the way, where did they keep the goddamn tinfoil?” (p.63). When a person away from the environment which he once undoubtedly familiar with for quite a long time, he would feel very painful about being “stranger” in own space due to the emptiness in mind which could be filled. According to an American sergeant of marine’s illustration of his experience (), first when he came home, it was elated to see his families and go out having fun with peers, but soon enough, he found that everything is substantially foreign to himself. Initially when he saw his wife, he sensed mounts of subtle differences somehow, though she is still herself, but her hair has changed as well as her interests. “It kind of feels like a first date for a few weeks as you try to remember how you fit together again...figuratively speaking.” (Jon Davis, 2016) Those things once we loved and we could not live without seem so far away from us. They are still there, but time changes them and war changes soldiers.
