According to Mark Borgard, multitasking in the car is a danger to others because it leads to distraction and slow response rate. People believe they can drive while they eat, shave, argue with kids in the back, look a map, and/or reach for things in the car. Now add a cell phone to the mix and it can impair the driver’s performance as if they were driving legally drunk (Hamilton).
