You wake up knowing that your day will be a good one, but as your step foot out of the dorm you hear a mob of people screaming and shouting in fear of their lives; all to find out there a malicious student on campus taking away lives of other students. In the past few years, guns violence has taken the lives of innocent people and the government has done little to assure citizens safety in the U.S. Large public areas are targets for mass shootings; one example being college campuses. In August 2016 a law will be in effect that will allow students to be armed on campus as long as they are of the legal age 21, and contain a concealed weapon license. Once the law goes into effect there will be a significant increase in the number of 911 calls. A cop cannot make the decision on whether or not a person is mentally, physically, and emotionally responsible enough to carry a weapon. People already make threats to shoot others for saying how they feel about a certain subject. The other day in the Quad there was a guy protesting that everyone is going to hell and during his speech someone threatened to shoot him for speaking his ideas. The police department on campus was made aware of the situation and had to monitor everything that was happening in the quad at that moment to make sure nothing spirals out of control. The University Police provide safety and security for all of the students on campus and should not have to deal ignorant people. Being that Texas State is a college campus, it is going to have parties where students get intoxicated and lose their morals and values. Someone intoxicated is more likely to set off their gun rather than a sober one. This makes parties even more dangerous than what they already
