George Orwell said,”Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf”. Men and women around the country take an oath to become a marine. They dedicate their lives to protect our freedom and security. Not only do they protect us, but they are what America stands for. Marines are one of the most valuable branches to the United States military because they are well trained, loyal men and women, who have fought and fight for America.
Marines have to meet certain qualifications before they can be enlist. To become a marine you have to be at least 17 years old at the time of enlistment and 20 years old at time of commissioning to become a officer. They require that you must be under the age of 29 at time of enlistment and 28 at time of commissioning. You need to be a legal citizen of United States and have proof of residency. Enlistment requires a high school diploma and a physical examination. Officers must have earned a bachelor's degree (Requirements). Once you have meant all these qualifications than you are able to go to bootcamp.
