Research Ethics: Ethical Issues of Data Reporting and the Quest for Authenticity

Abstract

This paper is to discuss the importance of authenticity and reliability about the scientific research. It to some extends can lead ethical issue and fatal damage, especially in the medical research. The responsibility to conduct a research in a right way is fundamental to the quality of science in our discipline. Therefore, fraud and misconduct in scientific research will affect the quality of science and the advancement of knowledge. This paper selects several ethical issues of data reporting in Research Ethics and discusses a case in traditional Chinese medicine with the kinds of behaviors that would be identified as research misconduct.

In order to achieve this goal, it requires excellent scientific methodology. Besides that, being honest in collecting data and interpreting properly is very important as well. We need realistic assessment of the implications of the findings and cannot ignore peers reviews. Underlying all steps in the acquisition of new knowledge is the absolute need for application of the highest ethical standards for research.
