The case study student Darien is in his second year in the third grade. He is participating in general education curriculum with accommodation. He receives support in language arts, intensive reading, math, independent functioning, communication, language therapy, and speech therapy. Although academically behind Darien participates in all activities in his classes. Darien lives with his father, mother, and two younger brothers in Deltona, Florida. Darien’s father was in the army, because of this the family moved often. Darien’s mother informed the Pre-Professional Teacher that Darien was born at six months, and has struggled with delayed learning.
Summary of Interest, and Attitude Surveys
The Pre-Professional Teacher created the Personal Interest Survey for her and Darien to take together. The Pre-Professional Teacher was given a table in the corner of the class to give the survey. The Pre-Professional read each question. Then they both answered the questions. The Pre-Professional Teacher noticed that Darien’s handwriting is below a 2nd grade level.
