Okonkwo is viewed as a man who possesses many strengths. One of Okonkwo's main strengths is determination. In Things Fall Apart he shows this characteristic throughout the book. One weakness of Okonkwo is that he is very impatient. Okonkwo’s impatience leads him to not accept his son, and he also “had no patience with unsuccessful men” (5). The first weakness actually leads to another of Okonkwo’s weaknesses. The weakness is that he is not satisfied with his first son, Nwoye. Okonkwo’s dissatisfaction with his son is a weakness because Nwoye does not meet his father's moral expectations. Despite having many strengths, Okonkwo is impatient and intolerant of his son’s actions and behaviors.
To conclude, there are characters who show strengths and weaknesses in an author’s work. In Things Fall Apart, Achebe portrays many strengths and weaknesses in his character, Okonkwo.
