F. Skinner he designed an learning practice based on operant conditioning. Operant conditioning, which is a change in behavior because of the consequences or rewards. A person who uses food as a reward while stressed will connect food with a more pleasant-feeling state, which makes it more likely to become a repeated behavior. The child/ young adult already is classical condition to reward themselves with food, they will modify behaviors and routines to ensure they can receive the reward. For example, a child who already classical conditioned knows that if they continue what they are doing, a reward will follow. Operant conditioning is also reinforcement and punishment. You have positive reinforcement which is rewarding a good behavior and want it to continue then you have negative reinforcement which is increasing a behavior by removing a stimulus. Then there is positive punishment by adding a negative to decrease a behavior and negative punishment that is taking away something they desire to decrease the behavior. For example, Bob always eats nachos when watching his team is winning on TV. Now if his team loses he will not reward himself with nachos. This leads to obesity because Bob is conditioned to always reward himself with something he loves and if his team constantly wins every game that is more nachos for him. Another example is Sally washes the dishes without being told to do so and her mom rewarded her with cookies. As sally grows up every she …show more content…
Above I mentioned modeling as a cause to obesity because you are copying someones habits for this one I used eating habits because you copying how they eat. Then I said, once you are classical conditioned you go from unconditioned to conditioned you need a couple repeats before you are set. I used the kitchen scenario as an example to obesity because they are now expecting food when they walk into the kitchen. And then I used priming because we so so many advertisement food while on TV or out driving and it automatically triggers hunger. Last I said operant conditioning because you grow up conditioned so you reward yourself. There are many other contribute to obesity but because of the learning and developmental stage we know a few reason why people are obese. If their experience is reward based the neurological tissue with develop under the same manner. If the reward program is food based, ultimately it will lead to obesity because the brain follows that pattern under these conditions Also found out that obesity is not only found in adults but also in children. However there are many ways that we can reduce obesity in America if we add a balanced diet in over everyday activity, reduce the constant munching and advertise some healthy food at times on
