The family nurse practitioner has a unique role in the health care community, which I inspire to encompass. During this time I held leadership roles responsible for training of new medical assistants, medical billing and documentation education for providers, and establishing workflow processes to address gaps in care. During this time I worked to engage providers and staff in achieving quality care outcomes such as mammogram, A1c, and pneumococcal vaccination compliance. I worked directly with nurse practitioners and physicians as we transistioned a practice from paper to electronic medical records and struggled with financial hardships. As a member of the practice management team I learned the value of dedication and research. As a team we worked toward identifing patterns in complaince and tracked intereventions to determine value to the practice. We looked for ways to reduce costs and increase staff satification. In participating in practice improvement activities I was able to enhance my critical thinking skills and understand the finanical aspects to the medical field.
