Without a doubt, the Great Depression was an economic disaster for the United States. However, the impact that it left, due to Franklin Roosevelt, was very beneficial. The new program that made our economy more structurally sound was the new deal. After the great depression, the most advantageous programs made were the civilian conservation corps, civil works administration, federal housing administration, federal security agency, home owner's loan corporation, national industrial recovery act, public works administration, social security act, Tennessee valley authority, and finally, the works progress administration.

Roads were improved, bridges were constructed, airports were upgraded, and pipelines were repaired (dpla). People with few skill sets could work, get paid and solve other problems. Out of all of the jobs, the road repairers were the most valuable, because the roads were safer, and since people were buying more, they could drive to work. Another very important advancement was the new schools that were built so that the future generations would be more intelligent.
The federal housing administration (still operating today) is my favorite program. Banks failed, people did not have much money, and due to that, they were homeless. The federal housing administration sets standards for construction, underwriting, and insures loans made by banks and other private lenders for home building (wiki). This made living conditions much safer and it also made people more comfortable because the mortgage market was secure.
