Believing there is a beautiful place beyond is all the good I can hang onto. After the tragic death of my mum and little sister Betty, I am stuck in this sick world of my fathers. He is never home and when he is, it's like I am trapped in a world of hurt. The person my father used to be is now gone and I am left with a stranger that drinks. Before the accident, he would never touch anything like alcohol, but he's the only known family I've got now.

"ANDROMEDA" yells Dad from downstairs "GET YOUR ASS DOWN HERE NOW!" Letting out a sigh I walk slowly down the stairs where dad is standing waiting for me. Dad is about 5'9 and built like a football player. He has blonde hair and brown eyes. Where I am 5'7 and as skinny as a rake. I have my Dad's

"Why do you always hide my alcohol?" he says accusingly.
"Your horrible disgusting rum is in the fridge in the basement where you always keep it" in reply Dad nods his head slowly and makes a start towards the basement. Huffing I walk back to my room.

My room is the biggest room in the house with my own ensuite and a walk in wardrobe. It was originally Mum's room but I became very attached after her death and because Dad was hardly home I asked if I could move in and he thought it was a great idea. Dad struggled with the death, said he had to get out of there anyway.

Picking up my skate magazine I notice that a car is parked outside the house. It's dark out but the headlights of the car are on. Why is Dad in the car with someone? He passes an envelope to the man on the driver's side and the man passes him a little bag. Dad gets out of the car heading back inside, the car drives off in a hurry. The front door closes as I head down the stairs, I see Dad put the bag in his pocket.

"Is that drugs" I yell with disgust.

"I...I didn't know you were still up" he says.
"You know what I don't what to know, I don't give a shit anymore" Yelling at

Do you need transport?
Me: Yeah. Can you come pick me up tonight, I know it's nearly nine o'clock but I really can't stay here.
Joey: I will be there shortly.

Turning my phone off I go to the cupboard and get a few t-shirts, pair jeans and a few pairs of underwear. Placing them on the bed I grab the backpack from under my bed and put the clothes in. I take the bag to the bathroom to get some toiletries then come out again. By the time I am all ready to go, Joey is waiting outside. Grabbing my phone charger and putting it in the bag I head downstairs.

"Wherrr the uck ar.. you going" Dad yells slurring his words which startles me.
"Your drunk! I'm going to Joey's if you must know. If you don't get your life straightened out I am not coming back"

I yell straight back at him. With that, I head to the door, just as I'm about to open it I feel a sharp pain in my side. I turn and see Dad in an angered state with his fist up, clutching my side I slam the door behind me.

Joey sees me and runs to my side trying to assist me. I tell him I'm fine as he helps me into his car. Joey owns an expensive BMW that is awesome which he can afford because his parents are

It all started when I was in about fourth grade. A group of firefighters came to my school for a presentation. I remember vividly an intimidatingly burly fire marshall telling I don’t remember much about it, except that they told each of us that we needed an escape plan in case of a fire. I remember a story my mom had told me many times about a fire that devastated her family when she was a little girl. It made me shake in my shoes.…
