“Delta 1541, Cleared for takeoff.” These are the words every aviation enthusiast wants to hear. A clearance to depart our world and transfer into a world 35,000 feet in the air is unimaginable. The ability to soar into the sky at rapid speeds is what makes me drawn to flying. As a child, every time I stepped foot on a plane, I always want to go to the cockpit and talk to the pilots about their experiences. This has led to aviation not just being a hobby for me, but what has driven me to want to have a successful career in the field of aviation. My first exposure to aviation was through my grandfather. He would take me to the Canadian Air and Space Museum located in Ottawa, Canada. While there, we would spend the day watching and learning about the different types of airplanes, where they were first used, and even about different jets at the museum. Every year that we went to visit him, I demanded that we visit the museum at least one time. One of my favorite attractions at the museum was their Flight Simulator. Everytime we went to the museum, going on their Flight Simulator was the first and last attraction I attended. It was from this experience that I realized that I had a real passion towards aviation and eventually convinced my parents to buy me my own Flight …show more content…
With the Flight Simulator I have at home, I have the ability to create a scenario where the plane has an engine failure. I revel in the excitement and the rush of adrenaline that I receive when having to figure out how to land the plane safely with only one engine. When the plane lands safely, I let out a monstrous sigh of relief knowing that I saved the lives of the “people” on the plane. Even though Flight Simulator is not a necessity, I feel that my life would be completely different had I not discovered and engaged myself in this

I still remember when I was seven years old and how my grandpa would come visit my grandma once or twice a week. I would be so happy to see him because he would always call me over and sit me down next to him so that we could watch the history channel together. We would sit there for hours and watch documentaries on everything imaginable. One documentary that I will never forget is one that we watched that was talking about how the Romans built the Colosseum and their aqueducts. That was when I first realized that I liked designing and how I liked seeing how buildings were designed and built.…

The article and lecture offer two contrasting views on the pterosaurs' powered flight capability. The author asserts that they didn't have such capability and they were able only to glide and cites three reasons to support. Contrary to the passage, the professor demonstrates that the presented explanations are unconvincing and therefore, they were capable of powered flight. First of all, the passage contends that modern reptiles are cool-blooded animals and hence, pterosaurs, as a member of reptiles family, were probably cool-blooded too.…

The four forces of flight are the main reason why planes fly and how they are able to glide through the air majestically. Each force of flight helps to guide the airplane to its destination by helping it withstand gravity and pressure. Lift is one of the four forces, lift is an upward force that is created by the movement of air above and below an airplane wing. Lift helps balance out the weight of the plane for it to be able to withstand gravity. Lift's air flows faster above the wing and slower below the wing, which creates a difference in pressure that keeps the airplane flying.…

The ability to fly has been available for many generations. The first flight by man was by Wilbur and Orville Wright. Even though it only lasted for a few seconds, flight has made life easier. Now, airplanes can transport people and goods over large bodies of water and land, and even make war easier (and harder) to win. With flight, lives have been changed, and the four forces, angle of attack, Bernoulli's Principle, and lift come to work when an airplane flies!…

The demand for flight simulators has been largely accelerated by the need to train and evaluate pilots and aircrew efficiently, safely and effectively. Flight training tends to be driven by economics. The overall cost of purchasing and operating a flight simulator is a small fraction compared to operating the aircraft it replicates. Exercises such as an engine failure or stalling can be taught in the simulator. As a result the pilot and instructor as less susceptible to the dangers presented when performing such manoeuvres in a real aircraft (Lee, 2005).…

As seen in Figure 1.0, there are 19 combinations of key commands required to carry out certain functions when using the simulation. Due to the need to press different keys on the keyboard, the participants found it hard to remember those keys, causing the participants to make errors in navigating and flying the plane. This brings us to the second problem, which is none of the participants agree that they could recover in the event of accidentally flying the plane off-course or crashing the plane. The participants reported that the simulator did not provide the ability to restart a certain part of the mission.…
