She refuses because she already has her true love with her and father has no clue. “I tell thee what: get thee to church o’ Thursday...”(Shakespeare,III.v.167-168). Capulet is portrayed as someone who avoids drama at all costs and then suddenly there is a shift in his character. He becomes a pushy father that forces her daughter into a “proper” marriage. One could say that he is the character foil of himself from the beginning to the end of the play.
