Four Styles Of Parenting

Being a parent may be one of the most difficult things anyone will experience in their lives. Every family is structured by the parenting styles that were used to make that family grow. There are many parenting styles any parent can follow. Parenting styles are as diverse as the parents themselves. There are four different styles of parenting Indulgent, Authoritarian, Authoritative, and Uninvolved parenting. Each parenting style has a level of responsiveness and demandingness that can be used. All parenting techniques are different from all households. In my experience my parenting used the authoritative approach throughout my childhood. This paper discusses the responsiveness and demandingness of the parenting style that my parents used throughout my childhood. Out of the four styles of parenting my parents used the authoritative approach when it came to parenting my sister and I. Authoritative parenting is both responsive and demanding. Parents who use this the authoritative approach teach their children to be independent while at the same time they are controlling their actions. In the future when I have kids, I would also want to be an Authoritative parent. AS a parent I don’t want to force my kids to do anything they don’t like or keep them away from anything that would make them who they are. However, I will have boundaries just like my parents so they learn how to take car of themselves and learn how to be independent people when they grow up. In responsiveness, I would do the same as my parents but maybe a little more to let my kids have a social life. Growing up in this century is much different from when my parent grew up. I will let my kids have more freedom but I will have demands for the kids to meet before they get to have that
