The night was chilly, laying in bed I coughed and looked in the corner of my eye to see my sister, Ana get a wet, cold towel to put on my forehead. My father had left to go to a church conference that night, leaving me alone at our house to rest. But before he left he told me he would make trips to see how I was doing. I begged him not to leave me, because he follows me. He visits me in the evenings, and touches me, and he stares at me, and plays with my long hair. But my father left, he told me that those things don’t happen to a child of God. The town was spreading word that a creature visits young beautiful girls, I had cried that out to him too, to try to convince him. Yet he did not listen. All he responded with, with a loving, kind, faithful …show more content…
I always had my sister, brother, or my father was always near. But I would always feel his presence. I would also hear his whistles from far away, as though he was telling me he was there, that he has never forgotten about me, I know he listens to me. The more I grew, the more my beauty grew with it. And I felt him even closer, like he could jump out any minute. He was possessive and I noticed, eventually the rumors about this creature stopped, he was too busy bothering me that he didn’t have time to stalk anyone else, my whole family kept it a secret, my father feared the worse if someone found out, they would call me a witch or think I was possessed with the devil or something. Sometimes the Cipitio was careless and he would come out when my family was there, he was relentless with spending every tiny moment with me. In fact the other day by the river near my house, I saw him? There were ashes from where people had a fire last night and he ate the ashes? The site sent shivers up my spine, he just bent over on his knees and ate the …show more content…
There were so many rumors that I was witch and what not. Tt seemed as though every girl in Central America, in El Salvador, in my town, had a boyfriend, and many friends? I felt my face get hot. Why won’t any boy bother to look at me! Why won’t any girl be my friend. I began to have doubts, maybe it wasn’t the Cipitio, maybe it was just me, if no guy talks to me or ends up getting scared I’m probably ugly! One afternoon as I gathered the clothes from the river after they had been dried, I looked up and saw a young man fishing. He was beautiful! My heart jumped and I could hear it say to me,
“That’s the man! It’s him I want to spend my days with.”
He looked at me, jerked his head and turned around fast. I could feel my face get red with anger, he had done terrible things, This Cipitio… But this time he done it, he sent me over the edge.
“Why do you do this to me! I know it’s you, I hate you! Go

The influence of this experience appears in her writing. In a psychoanalytic reading of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, the effects of the author’s loss of her mother at a young age manifest themselves in the creature’s lack of connection with his creator to show the traumatic alienating effects of her experience.…

Summer reading journal: Frankenstein Mary Shelley begins Frankenstein with a note to the readers describing the events which led to the idea and creation of the story. Immediately I feel a connection to Shelly due to the fact that the story of Frankenstein essentially came from a nightmare. I have also experienced a nightmare that I would like to make into a story or short film. Knowing this, I hope to feel a connection of sorts with the writing and maybe use Frankenstein as a potential stylistic template for my own short story. I don’t understand why Shelly decides to begin Frankenstein with Robert Walton’s letters to his sister.…

Many of the professional literary critiques that emerged following the publishing of Frankenstein were less than positive in their evaluations of its quality and value. Some of these critics devalued it based on its failure to present a positive message to readers while others criticized inconsistencies within the story. One article that criticized both aspects of this novel was The Literary Panorama and National Register’s “Review of Frankenstein; or the Modern Prometheus.” This paper was well known in this era and considered a credible source of information regarding literature.
