Gertrude Hamlet Fault Analysis

In Act, I, Scene 2 the lack of judgement is her main character fault. Gertrude being the mother of a grief-stricken son, she could have been considerate of Hamlet’s emotional state. Rather, two months after the death of King Hamlet, Gertrude married Claudius her dead husband brother. Gertrude should have considered the shame she was brought to Hamlet, during those time that considered incest to marry her husband’s brother. There is a lot of jealousy that Hamlet holds for his mother, he feels that his mother should be helping him mourn the loss of his father. Gertrude is out of touch with her son’s emotions to not notice why he is enraged. When responding to Hamlet, she told him that it is normal for all men to die, but he was not just a man, she should understand; he was Hamlet’s father and her husband! Gertrude asked Hamlet: If it is, why seems it so particular with thee? (74-75) she means to calm him down, but the word “seems” only makes Hamlet More Suspicious. She does not understand that in his emotional state, her word “seems” gives Hamlet reasons to believe she is keeping something from him. Gertrude finds a way to ask Hamlet what he is suggesting and deal with his problems, but she is the kind of mother that wants peace and does not think about the consequences. One could think Gertrude is hiding something about the murder, in Act II, scene 2, it is demonstrated that Gertrude never took part in the scheme. Hamlet believes his mother took part with Claudius in the murder of his father. Claudius and Gertrude have a private conversation, she gives her opinion about why Hamlet is upset, Hamlet did not hear the conversation.
