The results were analyzed based on a random effects model using the aid of Forest plots. Specifically, the meta-analysis consisted of 256 random patients who were given ginger and 252 patients who were randomly given the placebo. Dose and method of ginger’s administration was varied between different studies. In summary from table 5, in all 6 studies: a total of 180 out of 256 subjects in the intervention group (ginger group), and 126 of the 252 subjects in the control group (placebo group) has shown decreased in symptoms of nausea and vomiting. The Odds Ratio (OR) column measured an association between the odds of outcome will occur given ginger, compared to the odds of the outcome occurring in the absence of ginger.
