Saying that Jean Otto is the librarian for Glen Rose Elementary School does not begin to cover the many hats she successfully wears. Jean truly believes that the library is a media center which expands out from the library to the whole school. She works endlessly helping teachers use the amazing power of all types of technology to support and enhance the curriculum.
Jean’s dedication and involvement with all areas of the school is evident when you walk into the school. In the morning you will see her greeting students as she helps them exit the cars at parent drop-off. Next, she may be down in the computer lab helping administer online testing. From there she could be found in a 2nd grade classroom helping students use the iPad app StudyBuddy to create ebooks over their research for their PBL unit. Finally, she is back in the library to film students for commercials, newscasts, and special announcements to be shown on the GRES Morning Announcements. In a few quiet moments she takes care of the library database and upkeep of the library. Then, she might be training a group of teachers during their conference over the management system for the classroom iPads. As the end of the day comes she most likely would be found with a group of students she is directing and filming for Glen Rose’s version of “Christmas Carol” to be released as a holiday special. …show more content…
