I plan to graduate NJIT with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with a minor in Business to gain financial acumen. I am also planning to study abroad for a semester at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia, in my junior year.

The Honors College at Auburn is designed to challenge the students that have showed academic excellence in their high school careers. The college should help students think more openly about the problems in today’s world, and lets face it, they are numerous. With the help of professors, the students in the Honors college should be able to pinpoint the source of a particular problem as well as the solution. I am not saying that the students will change the world with their way of thinking, but the students will be taught perspective. This type of thinking can only be mimicked in a challenging environment with people who are pushing each other to be better.…

I believe there is a more evident ambiance of respect in the Honors Program because, like the students, the professors are highly motivated. Additionally, the Honors students want to be in a more academically challenging environment and the professors want to teach these students who are hungry for knowledge. Furthermore, the smaller classroom settings are ideal for my learning process. With the smaller settings, there are less distractions and more individual attention which makes a difficult topic easier to comprehend. Also, I plan to take advantage of the Center for Undergraduate Research Opportunities since I have been accepted to the College of Engineering.…

Over the course of the semester of the new year as a sophomore, I have faced new situations that have changed me as a global citizen. I have grown in both the ability to communicate ideas and in my college readiness. I achieved this growth through my new classes and desire to reach a new level. The overall process towards making my presentation was grueling and the pressure that came with it added on to the difficulty of the assignment, not to mention that before the project, art seemed uninteresting to me.…

I considered many different universities and colleges, weighing out the positives and negatives in attending each of them. However, there was one that remained as the most impressionable college: The Honors College of Miami Dade College. My older brother had joined the Honors College and continually remarked on how they changed his life and helped him grow both mentally and financially. He began speaking to me about the Honors College when I was a freshman in high school, and I worked tirelessly to be considered acceptance into this rigorous program.…

The notion that students can, and will pay more attention to subjects that interests them, as opposed to those that do not, is an important one in the designing of an ideal education system (Montessori, 1915 as cited in Murphy, 2006). Without this consideration, the student’s potential to concentrate will be measured by the amount of attention they are able to pay to subjects in school, subjects determined by the educator. Realistically, this potential may vary greatly when the student is faced with a subject that they, and not the educators, find interesting. Once the student encounters these subjects, their willingness, perhaps ability to focus is dramatically improved. This improved focus results in an ideal education because Montessori…
