Graduation Speech: River City High School

Hello. My name is Elena Karavan and I have been attending Bridgeway Island for eight years. Looking back to the day we started at this very school, who knew that we would come so far to soon go to River City High School. We were all small children who had no clue what waited for us later in the years and these eight years have been both long and hard. Some of us have been in this school from kindergarten, while some of us came later. My favorite year was 8th grade, mostly because we are going to high school, but there were many good moments throughout the year. The best moment was when we were in the bus on the way back to school from Chico State University, Ms. Schoellhammer and Mrs. van der Heide danced to the song “Work”. Moving on, I would now first like to thank all of our teachers that are here in this room and those from past grades. Because of them, we are now able to go to high …show more content…
The future ahead of us will be harder than elementary school, but thanks to our teachers and parents they have helped us to come at this point. In middle school I learned that education is no joke and you have to be serious with it. Also, being in NJHS made me realize that we can make small changes in the world no matter how old we are. We may think that promotion day is not that important while graduation in high school is more important. This is absolutely wrong. To go to high school is a big deal because you are now at the point of where you are choosing your own path. There are four important things that you should keep in mind when going to high school which include: staying positive, confidence, curiosity, and determination. Like Dr. Seuss said "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself, in any direction you choose. You are on your own. And you know what you

Throughout reading “Commencement Speech, Kenyon College”, I found this short story very inspiring to read as I found myself doing more research on this essay because I was so interested in it. Reading this once through I got the feeling of more of a pessimistic and lower toned feeling sine suicide is mentioned and reading the bio notes of David Foster Wallace and how he suffered with depression and committing suicide I realized this was more of a final speech of what he wished he could have still in himself. “It’s the matter of my choosing to do the work of show how altering or getting free of my natural, hardwired default-settling” (309) I believe in this statement with my whole heart, to me I believe that I used to get just go through the motions of life and wasn’t really living but recently one of my friends came to me and told me she wanted to kill herself because she didn’t see the point in life and though I don’t know if I ever could get to that point, I told her that every day we would hang out, every day we would make the most of everyday and every day I would remind her why life was so wonderful to live and how lucky we are for this opportunity.…

Many people meet lifelong friends as well as their lifelong partners in high school. The experiences we go through in high school stick with us for the rest of our lives and shape our personalities. It is the first step for boys becoming men and girls becoming women. Education is what makes a nation greater, more powerful, and more advanced. Being informed and eliminating the ignorance allows us to understand our role in the world and know how to…

At 38 degrees latitude north and 92 longitude west, lies the rural farming town of California, Missouri. This town is rich in cornfields, small businesses, and many churches of all denominations. From the quiet fields, to the busy town square this city is home to 4,341 people. What I believe makes California stand out from the other towns is that it has the “oldest continuously operating fair west of the Mississippi” (Kunze). But the thing that impacts me most about this town is the California High School, it’s staff, and the students.…

Though I am not even half way through my high school career, I feel as if I can still be a help to those who are just beginning. High school is probably the most important part of your life that you are responsible for in our teenage years, so it is important not to mess it up. There are a few concepts that I have figured out by myself that I wished someone would have told me. Those of which include never procrastinate, think about your future, learn how to manage your time, and do not settle for less than your best. My first recommendation is that you don’t procrastinate.…

Three years seemed like a long time, but it feels like just yesterday we were just sixth graders trying to find our way around the school. Eventually we did find our way, not just through the hallways, but in our student life. None of this would be possible without the help of the welcoming teachers, phenomenal administrators, a wonderful guidance counselor and our astonishing principal, Mr.White. I want to thank you for making our 8th grade year one to remember. There are many amazing memories of our three years at Black River for us to cherish.…

These last four years have been a whirlwind for me. Between school, gymnastics, extra curricular activities, work, cheer, and many more activities I have to say I have been very busy throughout my high school years. There has been ups and downs, yet through all of them I have learned valuable lessons that I will take with me as I go off to college. I tried to challenge myself each year in a different way, being able to look back and reflect on them is a great way to see how far I’ve come since that first day as a freshman on crutches nervous as all get-out to attend Auburn Riverside High School. Freshman year, I started off the first month of school on crutches, and the following two months in a boot.…

Sophomore year is a tie with junior year on being probably the most enjoyable years in high school. Tenth grade was so relaxing because you at least had one year under your sleeve, which made life a little easier. One of my most memorable moments was second semester in Mr. Prina’s class when we played the Super Power game. This game really tested friendships and classmates trust in eachother. My group did really well, but the amount of work we put into some of the little games and activities was tiring and took a lot of hard work.…

Greetings, Class of 2023. Today, we get to celebrate the culmination of our thirteen years of hard work in school with graduation, and I have been asked to deliver this year’s commencement speech. I would like to thank all of the people that have brought us here: family members, teachers, principals, and people who would go out of their way to encourage us to keep trying hard even in the midst of failure. Without you, we would not be standing on this stage today. I would like to start by defining the word “commencement.”…

Senior Year My greatest memory so far in my eighteen years of being on this earth is without a doubt my senior year of high school. It was absolutely unforgettable. My senior year as a whole (which was just last year) was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and the happiest I have ever been. When I was a chubby little freshman with glasses I thought to myself that high school would be one of the longest time periods of my life and that four years would feel like forty years. But man was I wrong, high school went by in the blink of an eye.…
