Two of the greatest composers who still comfort us today, with their compositions are J.S Bach and G.F Handel. Their influence can be found in mainstream media throughout the world today. Their compositions can still be heard by anyone. Whether it be through: television commercials, opera concerts, or relaxation therapy. It is evident that their music has influence the lives of many people throughout the centuries. These two men were great through their unique styles of music, although they were similar and uniquely distinct in various ways.
As odd as it may seem these two musicians were born within the same year and were natives of the same country. Handel was born in February 23, 1685 just a little over a month later on March 31, 1685 Bach was born. Handel was born in Halle, Germany, just roughly 120 miles away from where Bach was born in Eisenach, Germany. During this time of age, it was traditional for musicians to be born into a family of musicians just as Bach was. However, Handel was not born into a family of musicians.

Bach’s father was the town’s musician in Eisenach. Bach’s father taught him to play the violin. Bach’s ability to sing soprano was Bach attended a school where he learned Latin and received religious teachings. These religious teachings later greatly influenced Bach’s music. Bach was a devoted Lutheran man. He worked in churches as an organist. He held several jobs as an organist in a few churches and apart of his contract with these churches was to teach children music.
