Government agencies role in the development of health IT product usability should be focus on rules and regulation for the producers of the IT product. There should be set criteria for the IT products that are available. As the government put more stress on meaningful use of HIT, and Health Information Exchange (HIE), there should be criteria the vendors have to meet prior to producing a product. One of the problems with an IT product is data sharing which cannot be attained with programs such as Epic and Cerner.
