If you would look at any fitness/lifestyle magazine or website, well-toned, confident and flawless men and women are common sights. They look happy and there is something inside you that wishes you are like them. Although some of the photos undergone some editing, it is obvious that those celebrities have dedicated their time at the gym.

In some research, it was shown that the benefits of weightlifting is not exclusive to improving one’s body composition, it also advances the health on the whole. Yes, it can improve the way an individual looks, but it also boosts one’s self-assurance.

Weightlifting is an ideal method of burning fats. It can lower the threat of diabetes and helps in your battle against depression.

In February 2008 issue of Cell Metabolism, a study by Boston University researchers was published demonstrating the type 2 muscle fibers. This is the kind you can build by lifting weights. Weightlifting greatly improves the metabolism. They believe that if there is an increase in type 2 muscle fibers, reduction of body fat will follow if there are no changes on diet. Weightlifting is an effective defense against overweight and obesity.

As a person age, he or she naturally loses bone mass and muscle. This is a huge issue for females because their bones are smaller and are likely to weaken in time. Weightlifting is a good solution to this, because the muscles adapt to the stress of weightlifting. The muscle goes stronger and bigger and the bones can adapt. When the bones take in stress, more bone will be deposited.

You might be surprised to know that weightlifting can contribute to your fight against the risks of having diabetes. If you want to get rid of different illnesses, you have to be wiser and determined enough to manage your weight, get daily exercise, eat healthy and abstain from smoking and drinking alcohol. According to the National Institute of Health, males who engage in weightlifting for 150 minutes weekly have a 34% lower risk of diabetes. You could probably lessen the risk of diabetes by 59% if you have regular cardiovascular
