First, Heroes don’t always please everyone because not everyone agrees to the same things. An example of this is our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln. He was elected president right before the Civil war. He, even though many had differentiating opinions, still tried to preserve the union and free the slaves. One real-life example of this characteristic is Welles Crowther. He was just a traditional equity trader doing his work. When, BOOM! ; A terrorist controlled airplane crashed into the North Building of the World Trade Center. Welles and his co-workers were all thrown back and almost all were injured; the rest were dead. Crowther found survivors and immediately started helping them downstairs. “I remember a man in a red bandanna helping the survivors...running around and putting out fires. He escorted the others and I to the stairs where the firefighters were...I never saw his face.”- Ling Young. Welles in his trip brought dozens of the survivors, including Ling, he could to the firefighters. Welles immediately took heroic action and ran back to try to save more. He died at the bottom of the tower, along with 11 other firemen trying to save the maximum amount of people. Welles is a true hero because he when faced with adversity, stood up and tried to save as many people as he could. Another real-life example is the staff of Lamar University. 90% of the staff was effected by the Hurricanes in Texas. But, even though most lost everything, they still went to the university with smiles and happy attutudes. These people are heroes because, even though they lost much in the storms, they still helped their students thrive in a learning
