In the “imagine if we natives went to the cemeteries”, Harjo gave a perfect example saying you will never understand someone's struggles and pain until you are the one feeling it. European never respected natives even after the death, in fact, they treated them like slaves. Took their land from them by force and made it theirs. After reading this poem I got one question popped in my brain that is Indian only the American? I disagree because I think the author used the word “only” which made me think he is describing “only” to Indian. We have many people who are patriots of the United States and can do anything to protect the country. Like; shoulders, police officers, and those heroes of this country who are not native American. Every day they are fighting a battle to protect their
