This paper is going to assess a legal or ethical issue relating to a current work environment. The paper will have a description of the business situation that presents legal and ethical issue. It will also explain the prior, the current and the future employment experiences. It will analysis the ethical concerns raised by the situation. The paper will explain three areas of law as it applies in the business situation, and finally the paper will explain how to reduce liability exposure and to improve the overall ethic situation.

This happened in 1996; the US District Court for the Northern District of California put the class- action suit as Butler V. Home Depot Inc., 1996 WL 421436(N.D. Cal. Jan. 25, 1996). The Case Nos. 94-4335SI and 95-2182SI, respectively, pending in U.S. Dist. Ct., N.D. CA) claiming gender discrimination in Home Depot's Western Division (Kenedy, 1997). There was two other gender discrimination lawsuits that were filed against the Home Depot. The two lawsuits were in Louisiana and also in New Jersey. The glass ceiling hinders woman from moving up the corporate ladder, due to men having equal credentials and the company picking the man over the woman. A study was done by the US bureau and it stated that woman who work forty-four hours a week will earn eighty- four percent of what men do (Pesta, 2013).
Now we just think that gender discrimination only affects woman but that is not the case, men are affected also. An example is that if a male is working at a makeup counter and he is made to wear a suit, but the woman that works at the same makeup counter is giving special clothes to wear while they are working. We just think of woman all the time when it comes to gender discrimination, but it happens to both men and woman (Pesta, 2013).
When it comes to gender discrimination, it greatly affects all companies. It affects the productivity, because the employees lose motivation and the morale in order to perform the job correctly.
