“(Dis) Honesty: The Truth About Lies,” is a documentary that explores why and when people lie. Although Yael Malamede is the director, he establishes credibility by using Dan Areily, a professor at Duke University, as a narrator. Areily studies behavioral economics, irrationality, and honesty and throughout the film he presents studies followed by personal stories, to create a powerful argument. “It’s not about being bad, it’s about being human.” Lying is human nature yet we all have the capacity to change and create a more honest and ethical world.
The film includes many individuals who tell their own stories about lies they’ve told. Even though many of these people told horrible lies, it was clear to the audience they were not horrible
