I was inspired to create this video with two different worlds that represents an appearance, and a reality. This concept was inspired by Behrani who seems to have put on this appearance in order to enhance his daughters chances of making a good marriage. Though in fact, Behrani is working various jobs in dirty environments. Every time Behrani finishes his shift, he goes home and puts on this appearance of himself that is not true by wearing a suit. Overall, he is appearing to be wealthy businessman, but in reality he is not.
Because Behrani and his family lose everything when they immigrated to America, the family had no choice but to act a façade so the daughter can get married to a wealthy family. The dancer in my video is a young, female who is also depicted to be living a façade. The reasoning behind this dancer’s façade is because this person is hiding their real desires. The dancer wears black because in this section black is symbolic for pessimistic and overall reflects the negative side of the reality. The choreography in this part is a lot more expressive than the walking on sunshine dance. I have used the song ‘Hold Your Head Up’ by Macklemore. This song represents that even if you’re struggling you are able to push through and keep strong. As for camera transitions, I have used straight cuts in order to keep the viewer’s attention on the continuing story without any
