Aristotle and Dante are very much the same, yet very different. The two main characters have opposed perspectives on life. For example, Ari struggles with low self confidence and family issues, meanwhile, Dante is easygoing and artistic. Dante gets made fun of for being really smart, and Ari feels like an outcast for feeling uneducated. Yet, Benjamin Alire Saenz finds a way to make their personalities click in a very special way. So much so that Ari says,”I wanted to tell him that I’d never had a friend, not ever, not a real one. Until Dante. I wanted to tell him that I never knew that people like Dante existed in the world.” This quote perfectly expresses Ari’s feelings and admiration for Dante. Even if I could change anything, I wouldn’t change anything about the book. I feel that Saenz did a great job putting all the parts of the novel. I loved how the conflict was incorporated throughout the book and as an internal struggle within Ari. In addition, I think that the characters were also portrayed well and were very deep and complex, which made the book interesting and different. On top of all that, Ari’s insecure and negative point of view was easily understood and help perfectly tie together his internal struggle. In conclusion, this deep and different book blew me
