In the crucibke there was a panic that caused many townspeople to be afraid. An instance that caused a panic as well, was the Red Scare. The Red Scare panic and the Crucible's panic have similar motives, due to both being decieved by a group of people.
During the Red Scare, the Senate Joseph McCarthy had his motives to stop the communist from all their trechery and decieving lies. McCarthy was an anit-communist because of the unjust actions that they caused. For instance, the communist would charge people without sufficient evidence that made them convicted. This would rise the anger of people and act out of spite. Communist would attack people by making them believe things that were not true.
