If you come from a community that doesn’t really like different races then you will probably grow up not liking people of a different race.
While growing up I was raised being around different races, so race does not change the way I think of people. My mom and dad taught me everyone is equal and God loves all of us. By looking at your surroundings and seeing how others feel about race can help shape the way you look at race. We may all look different on the outside, but we all look the same on the inside. God created all men and women equal and no human can overrule God’s judgement. The color of your skin should not define who you are. In the book, during Tom Robinson’s trial, he was found guilty even though we figure it’s Mr. Ewell. The jury say Tom is guilty because no black man won a case against a white person. Tom seemed like a good person, but they let the color of his skin define him.
As I get older and learn more about race, I realize that race is whatever I want it to mean. I’m not going to let things influence my opinion on how people of different race should be treated. Race is something that is never going to change, and we need to accept that. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. We were all created equal, and the color of your skin or sex should not change

“More African Americans are under the control of the criminal justice system today – in prison or jail, on probation or parole – than were enslaved in 1850. Discrimination in housing, education, employment, and voting rights, which many Americans thought was wiped out by the civil rights laws of the 1960s, is now perfectly legal against anyone labeled a “felon’’.—said Michelle Alexander, the author of the book ‘The New Jim Crow’. In her book Michelle Alexander evokes many important issues that are running rampant in our society concerning the unfair treating of our criminal justice system towards African-Americans. " The New Jim Crow" highlights the racial dimensions of the War on Drugs, refuting its ‘real purpose’, that instead of combatting…

Whenever I look at a person I subconsciously classify that person into a race based mainly on appearance and other visible or tangible characteristics such as skin color, lip size, or the language I hear them speaking. I believe that this is how the human mind works. Humans classify individuals that look alike into groups to create stereotypes. The human mind then finds it easier to assign stereotypes or generalizations to this group of individuals that look the same. I then use these stereotypes and generalizations to determine how I react towards a race.…

All throughout time, people have been divided due to their differences. People who see others that are different from them will often immediately decide that they are “weird” and put those people lower than themselves. According to Linda Holtzman and Leon Sharpe in their passage, “Theories and Constructs of Race,” Race is just a social construct made by humans to exclude people based on what they look like, where they are from, their culture, etc. If scientists were to look at someone’s deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) compared to another person with, say, different colored skin, they would notice that there is not much of a difference between the two people. Therefore, as Holtzman and Sharpe say, “race is constructed socially, culturally, politically,…
