Not a lot had happened in the small town of Morris. It was a quiet village where everyone knew each other. But that all had changed when two sisters moved into the town. Their parents both had died in a devastating car crash a few years back, and moved into the town Then the police officer yelled, “Stop!” But she kept running. Her long legs carried her away from the man as he struggled to keep up with the young girl. The people of the small town watched in confusion as the mysterious girl with messy dirty- blonde hair, and her ripped jeans disappeared. As she looked back to see if the man was catching up and turned around and tripped on a bicycle who a little boy had left on the sidewalk. The officer caught up and people ran over immediately to help and see what had happened. The girl looked around dizzily and passed out. She woke up as it was a dream in a small room. Voices murmured around her. She opened her eyes and instantly saw the police officer. Everyone was staring down the mysterious girl. “What is your name,” someone asked. “Harper,” she answered. Well Harper, why did you steal the food from the store?” Said the police officer. We do not have any money, my sister and I are all alone. Our parents died in a bad car crash a few months ago, we just moved here since we had no other place to live.” How old are you, he asks.” “18, she says back to him deceitfully. Well you are gonna have to pay off those stolen items, so you are going to need a job. The owner of the grocery store then offered her a job as a cashier.
