Human Evolution Research Paper

Evolution is the change in a population over a usually long period of time. Population suggesting a group of the same species in the same location and habitat. Evolutionary changes occur on a genetic level. It is a process and in that process that results in changes that are passed on from generation to generation. Therefore it does not mean the changes of a single person over a short period of time, instead it refers to a species changing over time.

Genetic changes happen when genes mutate or combine during reproduction. Helping organisms survive and reproduce offspring that survive. A majority of people say that evolution is just a theory. It is in fact a scientific theory. A scientific theory supported by an overwhelming amount of evidence. Biological evolution tells us the way every living creature evolved over billions of years. Although any two species could be millions of years apart, they are still connected. Now every branch of this tree is a fork separating two species with a common ancestor.

Now just because a species has a common ancestor does not prove that human evolution is true. For example, humans and apes. Humans are extremely similar to apes and chimpanzees. But that does not mean we came from apes like Darwin's theory explains. What really happened is humans and apes have a common ancestor. But in a sense, we branched off two different ways as in apes got their similar genes to ours, but did not receive the fine motor skills we have. Over the millions of years that humans have walked this earth we have evolved in so many fascinating ways.
