On October, 27, 2016, I watched the Folk-Rock band, Hurray for the Riff Raff perform music through an online broadcast at, www.npr.org/music. Hurray for the Riff Raff is an American folk-Rock and Americana band from New Orleans, Louisiana. The lead singer is Alynda Segarra. She grew up in the New York, Bronx where she developed an appreciation for doo-wop and Motown. She would attend hardcore punk shows at ABC No Rio regularly when she was younger. She left the Bronx when she was 17 years old and spent a lot of her time hopping freight trains across North America.
In 2008, Hurray for the Riff Raff self-released an album labeled, “It Don’t Mean I Don’t Love You,” and in 2010 they released another album they called, “Young Blood Blues.” In 2011

The lead singer, Segarra is really known for her voice. She is not known for going very high when it comes to the pitch, but she can sing very low. Her voice is calming, in the first song I heard, “The Body Electric,” the lyrics were pointed towards violence in America, and the way she song it really spoke right to you. Even over the computer, I felt like she was talking directly to me. The timbre of this song was pretty quiet, along with the dynamics and the tempo was slow. I think with this song she was really trying to speak to people, she focused more on the lyric than on the instruments used. The song did have a relaxing beat, but the lyrics were meant to start a fire inside of people. It was hard to concentrate on the sounds because I was so focused on what she was saying. The instruments used were a guitar, a bass guitar, a keyboard, a violin, and …show more content…
This band uses words and instruments to express their feelings. In the first song of the concert, the instruments were slow and basically background sounds for the words, and in the second and third songs the instruments made the songs. This band did an amazing job in every song, they grabbed my attention right away. I love music festivals. I love the earthy vibes, and I love that they’re all about bringing people together and peace. I think it would have been a better experience if I could have attended this festival in person, a weekend of peace and love is what I would expect to find. Great music can be found at festivals like these, people just have to

Tyler is the lead singer and instrumentalist (mostly ukulele and keyboard), and Josh is the percussionist. To begin my description of this song, I would like to talk about how it sounds. The song is upbeat, has a fast tempo, and is played mostly on electric keyboard, using high, happy-sounding notes. This is a huge contradiction to the lyrics, and even…

Music is beautiful in many different ways. I may not listen to letlive. on a daily basis, but by the way the crowd was moving and how we were all emotionally involved, they could change lives with their music. We saw many bands that day, some of them being my favorites or soon to be favorites. I feel that you never get to actually get a band until you have seen them live, because once you see how they interact with their own music, you really get to see them for them, and understand why they're doing this.…

Unforgettable with Stephanie Aaron and the Bradley Jazz Ensemble was a very unique experience. I do not attend many concerts, but the ones that I have gone to were nothing like this one. The concert was full of energy and the lighting was dynamic. I mostly went to traditional concerts, but this jazz concert was much more energetic. When musicians would finish a solo the crowd would applaud and there was a lot of movement among the ensemble.…

The Cramps are a unique blend of rockabilly, garage rock, classic horror movies, and teenage angst. The Cramps celebrate all that is dirty and perverse and draw in listeners with their unique sound. This unique blend led to the creation of the psychobilly genre. Punk and psychobilly culture would be completely unthinkable without them, and their presence helped to influence the revival of rockabilly and later rock movements The creation of the Cramps began in 1972 in Sacramento, CA, when Erick Purkhiser picked up a hitchhiker, a woman with a great fashion sense named Kristy Wallace.…

Schubert’s Gretchen Am Spinnrade was a piece from the Romantic Era that involved the piano and soloist singer. Gretchen Am Spinnrade translates to Gretchen at the Spinning Wheel. In the story it talks about Gretchen being upset over something and she uses the spinning wheel to spin yarn.”…

“All Shook Up” by Glenn Altschuler exhibits how Rock ‘n Roll irritated, inspired, and sparked change in American culture. Music has played a critical role in civilization since its creation. As humans have progressed and evolved so has music. There has been a constant transformation in melodic styles, sounds, and the ways people perform. I attended the Stones River Chamber Players on February 29th. This was played in the Hilton Music Hall. When I was going in I did not know what to expect because I have never been to a music concert on the MTSU campus. There were around 60-70 people who attended this concert. Most of the individuals who attended were more than likely there for a class because more than half were students who did not understand the concept of staying off of their phone.…
